Sermon upon the Microchip
After spending two years in a Argentina, I was very surprised to see the differences between my mission and the United States mission fields. While I was happy to have a workable cell phone during my mission, now I see missionaries with portable dvd players, ipads, and even using Facebook. At first, I was apprehensive about using these social media carriers during the lord's work, but I was mistaken. I realized that the church has always been a pioneer at using new technology to further the lords work. Starting from using new techniques for temple building, the first presidency has always made an endeavor to be up to date with the latest tools. And by doing so they have boosted the mission field. Today, missionaries can contact their investogators daily through facebook and e-mail. In turn investigators can find information easier through websites and blogs posted by members. New ways are appearing daily that allow us and missionaries to spread the gospel in easier and friendlier ways. It is an unforeseeable blessing that needs to spread more.

The first presidency and quorum of the twelve apostles do keep up to date with technology. It's almost a little funny how good they are with technology. At a stake conference, Elder Perry showed us his iPad and said that he had on it outlines for 1000 talks (if I remember correctly) that he could give.
